It's all about nursing!

In early 2005, a group of Critical Care Nurses in Ventura County, California identified the need for an organization where the nurses in this area could collaborate on professional growth. Under the leadership of Michelle Crane - our chapter's first president - the group established the Ventura County Chapter of the AACN.

The chapter sought to provide professional education, networking opportunities, resources and information, leadership development and mentoring for acute and critical care nurses. It was at that time that the VC-AACN motto"Live your commitment" was established.

Since its inception, our chapter has continued to grow and flourish. Education has been our biggest focus and through our "Best Practice Lecture Series", we present educational opportunities that include dinner lectures, semi-annual one-day conferences and wine bus lecture tours to the local wine country.

American Association of Critical-Care Nurses

The chapter has focused on bringing in nationally known clinical specialists in acute and critical care nursing. Some of our highlight speakers have included: Kathleen Vollman, Barbara McLean, Cathy Goodrich, Tom Ahrens, Mary Kay Bader, Chris Pasero, and Congresswoman Lois Capps. In 2016, the chapter was awarded the AACN Circle of Excellence Award for Chapter Educational Programming.

One of the keys to the success of VC-AACN has been the dedication and perseverance of the nurses that take on leadership roles. Without the nurses who support our events our chapter would not be as strong as it is.

We thank everyone for showing through your actions that you...

"Live your Commitment!"
